My first public performance was in 2003 at the Emerald Ball in Charlotte. The following week, I piped in my first parade with Ceol na GaelĀ for Charlotte's St. Patrick's Day parade. I was hooked! Since then, I have developed a loyal following by piping for worship services, private parties, civic events, weddings, and funerals. I am also the unofficial piper for the Town of Pineville, North Carolina.
I have been involved with music for most of my life. When I was young, I played acoustic classical guitar. In high school, I played trumpet and baritone in the concert and marching bands. I worked for a while as a disc jockey on radio stations and in night clubs. Music is just a part of my soul.
I have always loved the sound of a well-played bagpipe, but never gave a thought about playing until 2002. This was a period in my life when I started taking a renewed interest in my Irish heritage. I took private lessons and suffered (along with my wife and our neighbors) the growing pains of learning to play this massive woodwind instrument.
